Osei, 29, who is reported to be a member of a syndicate and been on the Police wanted list for the past one year, was alleged to have collected the money from his victims (a female broadcaster and a nurse) to rent them accommodation but failed.
Two other accomplices of the syndicate are on the run and being sought for by the Police.
The modus operadi of the group is that they advertise houses for rent by people on Tonaton.com, an online market, services and negotiate with prospective clients who contact them on phone.
According to the police after negotiating and collecting money from the clients they go into hiding.
The suspect is in the custody of the Police assisting in investigations, the Tesano District Police Commander, Superintendent Edward Tetteh disclosed this to the Ghanaian Times in Accra, yesterday.
He explained that last year June, Osei and his accomplices advertised three houses located at Fadama, North Kaneshie and Kaneshie Poly Clinic areas to defraud Patience Adiku,a female broadcaster of GH¢2,000.
Supt Tetteh said after taking the money the suspects went into hiding and all efforts to get them on their mobile phones proved futile.
He said a report was later made to the police about the issue.
The Commander said on May 5, this year the suspects used the same trick to defraud Fauzia Tetteh, a nurse of GH¢2,000 at Nyamekye in Accra.
Supt Tetteh said Osei and his accomplices attempted similar trick on another victim but at the beginning of this month but the client suspected foul play and reported them to the police.
He said during investigations Osei was lured and arrested but his accomplices managed to escape.
The Commander said suspect would soon be arraigned.
Supt Tetteh said the police believe many people have fallen victim to such scam and appealed to victims to report such activities to the police.
