Some of the impounded motor-bikes
A total of 39 unregistered motorcycles and three vehicles were impounded by the police in a market-day law-enforcement operation, in the Ho municipality of the Volta Region, last Tuesday.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ebenezer Doku, Deputy Volta Regional Police Commander, who led the operation, said that some of the motorcycles and vehicles were not registered while others bore fake registration number plates.
“We take this seriously because such motorcycles are used for criminal activities,” he told the Ghanaian Times.
According to him, the owners of the motorcycles and vehicles, who were granted bail, would be processed for court as soon as possible.
ACP Doku said that exercise would continue in the municipality, and be extended to other parts of the region until sanity prevailed on the roads.
He said that a hallmark of the exercise was the swift processing of the offenders for court without compromise.
