Three men are in the grips of the police for allegedly robbing a rice company at North Industrial area, in Accra, of GHc796 and 1,850 dollars.
Eric Duse, 32, electrician, Kwabena Mohammed, driver, 25, Yakubu Mahmud, 28, blacksmith, broke into the company and took away the moneys.
The Tesano District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Edward Tetteh, who confirmed the robbery to journalists in Accra, said on June 19, 2017, at midnight, the suspects went to the company, tied and blindfolded the security man on duty at gun point.
The Police Commander said the suspects used a crowbar to damage six padlocks on the gate of the company’s main building and entered the warehouse.
He said, the manager of the company saw the suspects stealing rice in the warehouse, on CCTV camera connected to the building via his mobile phone and informed the police patrol team.
DSP Tetteh said when the police got to the scene; the suspects had ransacked the warehouse and took GHc796 and 1,850 dollars, which were kept at the manager’s office.
The Police Commander said one of the suspects, currently on the run, stood outside to keep surveillance while his colleagues robbed the company.
