The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has introduced a number of programmes at the undergraduate and graduate level.
The programmes which are under its sandwich mode of education to meet new demands and challenges of contemporary society include Bachelor of Science (Health Information Management), Master of Education (Art Education), Master of Education (Economics Education), Master of Education (Accounting Education), and Master of Education (Management Education).
The rest are Master of Education (Social Science), Master of Science (Project Management), Master of Science (Procurement and Supply Chain Management), Executive Master of Arts (Hospitality Management) and Executive Master of Arts (Tourism Management).
Vice Chancellor of UCC, Professor Joseph Ghartey Ampiah announced the introduction of the programmes at a matriculation ceremony to admit fresh students for the sandwich session.
He explained that the university received a total of 2,504 applications from qualified applicants for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
“Out of this number, 892 were applications for undergraduate programmes and 1,612 were applications received in respect of postgraduate programmes,” he said.
He said “records from the Students’ Management and Information System of the Directorate of Academic Affairs as of Thursday June 8, 2017 indicated that a total of 588 (215 males and 373 females) undergraduate students had enrolled and 1,227 (752 males and 475 females) postgraduate applicants had enrolled.”
Touching on ICT services and restructuring of the university’s website, Prof Ampiah explained that the institution had signed a contract with KLEOS UK Limited to build and develop the necessary physical structures for Radio Access Network and a 4G wireless broadband technology (LTE) that would cover five kilometre radius from the university.
The company, he indicated, had brought in all equipment and would be starting the installation soon.
He further informed the students that the University’s website had been restructured to make it more effective and intuitive for easy navigation due to the institution’s recognition of its website as one of the most important tools for social and online marketing.
Prof. Ampiah also stated the institution’s commitment to presenting students with diverse opportunities for nurturing students and empowering them to contribute their quota towards the development of the nation.
He therefore, admonished the students to be serious with their studies and also abide by the rules and regulations of the University.
