Albert Boakye Okere
The Police have begun investigations to unravel the break-in of the official residence and office of the Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Albert Boakye Okere.
Both incidents happened within the past two weeks.
Over 20 suspects have been questioned and their fingerprints taken in connection with the twin incidents.
A source at the Ashaiman District police command disclosed to the Ghanaian Times, yesterday.
It said the break-in at the residence occurred last week Monday, whilst that of the office took place Monday morning.
According to the police source, the thieves broke into the residence which the MCE is yet to occupy.
They attempted to carry away a deep-freezer,and a huge flat screen television but were unsuccessful because of its bulky nature.
The source added that the watchman has since been arrested and granted bail.
Related to the office, the source said the thieves broke in at Monday dawn, and scattered documents but did not take away any item.
It said the police suspected insiders at the office for both incidents and have intensified their investigations to arrest the suspects.
The Ashaiman Divisional Crime Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tony Adipah corroborated the story but declined to give details.
