Thirty-three middle management staff of waste management experts, Zoomlion Company Limited, has passed out of a four-week military training at the Ghana Military Academy (GMA).
The beneficiaries, comprising 27 males and six females, are the pioneers of the Corporate Youth Executive Course (CYEC), introduced by the academy in April this year.
They included accountants, environmental engineers, human resource officers, economists, marketing personnel, project managers, public relations officers and finance officers.
The workers received training in military professional ethics, leadership, discipline, time management, physical fitness, first aid administration, among others, which are expected to help enhance operations of the company.
Speaking at the passing out parade held, at the academy on Friday, Major General W. Omane-Agyekum, Commandant of the Academy, said the course had become important as certain virtues like time management was gradually ‘diminishing’ in the country.
He said the sense of time management and urgency were important in business transactions, and must be encouraged for national development.
Major General W. Omane-Agyekum, cautioned the trainees not to pose as military personnel and intimidate their colleagues and other members of the public, but they should be good ambassadors of the academy.
He expressed gratitude to Zoomlion for assisting the academy over the years, and urged for more support.
The Managing Director of Zoomlion, Mrs. Florence Larbi, expressed optimism that the trainees would make them more productive and result oriented.
She congratulated them for their resilience, and urged them to maintain the enthusiasm acquired during the training and be role models for their colleagues and subordinates.
Mrs Larbi expressed gratitude to the academy, and hoped for more collaboration for mutual benefits.
Four trainees, who distinguished themselves, were honoured with plaques, certificates and cash.Mr. Ernest Attoklo, head of Waste Management of the company, in the Eastern Region, was adjudged the overall best trainee.
