The Nsawam Municpal Director of Education, Mrs Esther Armah has urged women to make the education of their children a priority.
“As parents you must place value on the education of your child by investing in them and avoid spending much on funeral cloths and parties,” she added.
The education director gave the advice at the fifth anniversary celebration of Mount Calvary Child Development (MCCD) at Nsawam Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region.
It was organised by the Methodist Church Ghana, Nsawam-Adoagyiri Circuit, Compassion International in collaboration with MCCD.
Mrs Armah said it was sad to see some women spending lavishly on expensive cloths to the detriment of their children’s education.
She said education opens doors for the citizenry to lift themselves from poverty and promote economic growth.
The Municpal Education Director urged parents to build on the talents of the children.
The Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency, Mr. Frank Annoh-Dompreh announced the establishment of another modern Information Communication Technology centre for the community.
He commended the staff of the MCCD for their dedication in ensuring that the needy but brilliant children in Nsawam and its environs were given education and urged them of his continuous support.
The Project Director of the MCCD, Mr. Selorm Bandua urged parents to be good role models to their children and assured them of MCCD’s continuous support in helping them bring out the talents in their children.
The minister in charge of the Methodist Church Adoagyiri, Very Reverend Alex Asante Anom stressed the need for parents to make their children’s education a priority to help in the holistic development of the country.
