Madam Dapaah being conducted round the airport terminal building by Mr. Benayun
The Ho airport project will be ready for use later this year, David Benayun, General Manager of project contractor, Amandi, has disclosed.
He made the disclosure when Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Minister of Aviation and her deputy, Kobby Otchere-Darko Mensah paid a familiarisation visit to the project site on Friday.
According to Mr. Benayun who conducted Madam Dapaah and Mr. Mensah round the site, 80 per cent of work on the US25million dollar project had been executed.
He said that presently, work was being carried out on the perimeter fence.
Mr. Benayun explained that the “slight delay” in work on the project was due to lack of funds.
On her part, Madam Dapaah, re-affirmed government’s firm stance to see to the completion of the airport project.
She announced plans to also use the Ho airport in future as a maintenance hub for aircrafts and training centre for local pilots and airline crew.
“We do not want this to be white elephant,” she stated.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, who took part in the tour, said that the airport, when completed, would definitely open the region to other businesses.
For instance, he said that it would enhance shuttle services between Ho and the border town of Aflao.
