The projects include classroom block, sanitation facilities and water systems to improve condition in the schools.
St. John’s Grammar SHS, Amasaman SHS, Amasaman Cluster of schools are among the selected schools for the projects.
Mr. Samuel N. Laweh, Municipal Planning Officer of the Assembly, who announced this at a Town Hall meeting at Amasaman, said as part of the projects, 31 toilets are under construction in the beneficiary schools.
He explained that the sanitation projects have been prioritized to improve sanitary conditions in schools, and especially help school girls to maintain a high level of hygiene by properly managing their menstrual challenges.
According to him, the projects would benefit both students, pupils and teachers, and culminate in enhancing teaching and learning in the schools.
“The availability of these toilet facilities will help the girls and female teachers to maintain their menstrual hygiene,” he stressed.
Mrs. Felicia Dapaah, Coordinating Director of Ga West Municipal Assembly, called for more cooperation and collaboration from the people of the area in improving education and sanitation.
She also advised them against selling or encroaching school lands since such practice could hinder the development of educational projects.
