Joe Dadson and Sampson Asorgba emerged joint winners of the South African Freedom Day golf competition played at the Celebrity Golf Club at Sakumono on Saturday.
Both golfers recorded a net score of 44 to win the ultimate trophy in the Men joint event.
They were followed by Prince Agyiri and N.K Quarshie with 43 points each while Benny Mimis and S. Chudasana came in third in a keenly contested event with 40 points.
Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong and Aseda Wilson won the ladies event with 41 points and followed by Mona Myers-Lamptey and M. Anderson with 41 points. Catherine Fabbi and Afua Konado followed in third position with 40 points.
Speaking at the event, the South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Ms. Lulana Xingwana congratulated golfers for showing up and ensuring a very successful event.
“The South Africa Freedom Day is very historic for us and golfers for the past four years have contributed tremendously to the success of the competition, “she stated.
The Head of Regulatory and Government Affairs at MTN, Samuel Koranteng, said they have been sponsoring the event for the past four years due to the fact that MTN originated from South Africa and added that, MTN was committed to promoting sports in the country.
