A release from Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) issued on Monday March 16, 2026, confirmed the crashed craft, as MICROLIGHT AIRCRAFT with Registration Number 9GADV flying from Ho to Accra.
Expected to arrive in Accra at 1520hours.That, the last contact on radio with the aircraft was 1418hours.Information from the security sources indicate that, the aircraft was spotted hovering over Tema Community One, Site 17 area apparently looking for a space to land but finally crashed into the compound of the TMA Day Care Center.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) was the first rescue to arrive at the scene within three minutes of the crash, followed by the Police squadron led by its Tema Regional Commander, DCOP, Mr Barnabas Nasumong.
Accompanied also were the Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent, Mr Alex Kwarteng, Regional Operations Commander, DSP, Mr Jean Kpelli and the Regional Director of the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID).The two bodies have since been deposited at the Police Hospital in Accra pending possible identification and autopsy.
