COP Tetteh Yohonu, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has assured the public that the police will make life uncomfortable for criminals.
He gave the assurance at a press briefing during which he announced the arrest of four suspects, including three members of a gang responsible for a robbery incident at Owhim Tigo Junction, where one person was shot and killed.
The IGP expressed condolences to the bereaved family and commended the police teams involved in the operation, as well as members of the public who assisted with critical information.
He noted that the gang, led by a deceased suspect, Eric Antwi Duku, specialized in snatching pickup and Land Cruiser vehicles, particularly black and ash-colored ones, which they sold to contacts at Paga.
The police investigation revealed that the syndicate had links to similar robberies at Tarkwa, Kumasi, and other parts of the Ashanti region.
The modus operandi involved identifying and monitoring target victims, following them until they got the opportunity to strike, and resorting to opening fire if the victims resisted.
The IGP expressed gratitude to the President for equipping the police with necessary logistics, enabling them to respond effectively to such operations and called on the public to support police operations by sharing credible information and reporting suspicious persons and activities.
The IGP cautioned criminals to be wary that the police will leave no stones unturned to come after them and deal with them.
“We will pursue them, arrest them, and bring them to justice. That is a promise,” the IGP assured.
