The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno , has deployed reinforcement teams and armoured vehicles to Nalerigu and its surrounding communities in the North East Region following the recent burning of two houses by some youths in the regional capital. Reports indicate there were threats to burn additional houses and attack residents, prompting swift police action.
According to a statement issued by the Police on X, the deployment aims to restore calm, protect lives and property, strengthen security in the affected areas, and enforce the government-imposed curfew on Nalerigu and its environs.
The reinforcement teams will also assist the North East Regional Police Command in intensifying security along highways to ensure the safety of commuters traveling through the region.
The Police assured the public that investigations into the attacks and the burning of houses are ongoing. “Persons involved in these acts will be arrested and brought to justice,” the statement added, emphasizing the Police Service’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
