Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Barima Tweneboa Sasraku II, the Tema Regional Police Commander, has encouraged 170 general police Constables under his command, sitting a three-week promotional course to take the programme seriously, to justify the need to increase their ranks after the course.
Addressing the participants at the Tema WAEC Hall, venue for the programme, DCOP Sasraku II expressed the hope that by the time the course is over, they will have acquired enough training to make them better police personnel from their current status to what they aspire to be.
He explained that the participants should have undergone the promotional course in 2020 after they had served as Constables for a minimum of three years.
However, the Covid-19 pandemic delayed it, especially because all the Covid-19 health protocols had to be adhered to. DCOP Sasraku II, by this, spurred the participants not to feel disappointed “because it is better late than never.”
He went on to commend the participants for their hard work and commitment, saying “I hold Constables in high esteem because they perform the daunting tasks. So, when you fail, I fail. I have confidence in you that you will come out to be better professionals than you have been. Ghana needs you.”
To the citizenry, DCOP Sasraku II implored them to help the Ghana Police to fight crime to the barest minimum and be on the high alert to spot criminals in their communities by quickly informing the police.
Albeit, police personnel have been trained to be professionals and it shall always remain so, he was quick to explain that the misconduct of few bad nuts in their fold should not make citizens paint all police personnel with one brush.
