The Chief Executive Officer of the Public Sector Reforms, Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo faces legal action by the Kumasi mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi.
The latter has threatened to haul the former to court if he does not retract allegations levelled against him and subsequently apologise to him.
The mayor has given the CEO a 14-day ultimatum to retract the said allegations and apologise to him.
The complainant mayor claims Kusi Boafo has 14-days to publicly apologise and retract false and derogatory remarks he made about him, else he would go to court to seek redress.
Koffie and Partners, lawyers for Osei Assibey, who claimed Kusi Boafo dented the image of their client on Oman FM, indicated the 14-day ultimatum takes effect from May 29, 2021.
The lawyers claim that Kusi Boafo had made two wild and unfounded statements about Osei Assibey.
According to the Solicitors of Osei Assibey, the Public Sector head, who is also vying for the post of KMA boss said: “Osei Assibey says he has given money to Kennedy Agyapong to be given to me as bribe”.
Kusi Boafo is also said to have told the radio station that: “Osei Assibey has rented all radio stations, including Ashh FM, and placed people on them to verbally abuse me”.
But the lawyers of the Kumasi mayor stated that there is no iota of truth in the two wild, unfortunate and false comments made about their client and that, only a retraction and an apology could stop a court action.
“Our instructions hold that on the aforesaid programme you made a plethora of statements and comments on which are not only unfortunate but defamatory of our client and casts a slur on his hard-earned reputation”.
Meanwhile, four out of nine persons who applied for the KMA position have been shortlisted for national vetting.
They are the former Manhyia North Member of Parliament, Collins Owusu Amankwah, who scored 91 points after the regional vetting, with Thomas Kusi Boafo securing 64 points, followed by Samuel Pyne, Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party with 54 points and Osei Assibey Antwi garnering 52 points, according to certified MMDCE Vetting result for the Kumasi Metropolis.
