The Paramount Chief of Nsein Traditional Area, Awulae Agyefi Kwame III, who caused a stir during a Regional House of Chiefs sitting in Sekondi by describing the performance of the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah as abysmal, has struck again.
The very respected chief is annoyed that an invitation extended to him by the regional minister, after he (Awulae Agyefi Kwame III) had heavily criticised him during sitting of the Regional House of Chiefs, is being interpreted to mean that he had gone to apologise go him (minister). The Nsein Manhen had on May 10, 2021 heavily criticised Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah for failing to mediate in the numerous disputes plaguing the regional House of Chiefs to bring about peace.
Agyefi Kwame recounted how a regional Minister, Dr. T.K. Addo, upon assumption of office in 2012 hurriedly mediated and succeeded in having a case pending before court withdrawn for amicable settlement.
He regretted that the present regional minister has failed to follow this laudable step and rather sat down unconcerned when the House is being ripped apart by litigation.
Addressing a news conference in Sekondi on Monday, Awulae Agyefi Kwame confirmed that he was at the residence of the Regional Minister, two days after criticising him, at the behest of the Minister, where they discussed how to tackle the issues raised. He was, therefore, surprised with rumours in town that he had gone to apologise to the minister.
“I have not apologised and I do not intend apologising to the regional Minister. What did I say wrong in the house that I have to apologise”, adding that there was no way he would be compelled to eat back his own words.
“These are some of the dirty politics our politicians use to embarrass people. When they want positions, they come to us in humility and when they get it, they want to lord it over us. I want Okyere Darko Mensah to know that he is a small boy and I have lived life for a longer time. If he wants an apology, then they will have to kill me first because I will not apologised and I do not intend apologising”.
