King Faisal FC head coach, Kasim Gökyildiz has blamed their 1-1 home draw in the Ghana Premier League match-week 22 fixture on his Muslim players that are fasting in the Holy month of Ramadan.
Gökyildiz took to his official Facebook page to express his displeasure with the ongoing fasting exercise among his players after conceding a late goal to drop points against Karela United at the Nana Ameyaw Akumfi Park in Techiman.
The Insha Allah boys failed to pick the three maximum points in their clash with Karela United at home to continue their winning run after beating Inter Allies in Dawu last weekend.
Faisal opened the score via a powerful header from Zubairu Ibrahim on the 18th minute before a late goal from Maxwell Boakye ended the entire duration of the game.
According to the former AshantiGold SC tactician, nine players who were handed a starting berth in their game against Karela United were involved in the ongoing Ramadan fast.
“We couldn’t prevent the match we took [dominated] almost 75 minutes ahead of our opponent in the game…two minutes before the end of the match [King Faisal conceded to end the game in a 1-1 draw]. We paid the price of nine players fasting,” Gökyildiz wrote.
