A sod Cutting ceremony has been held in Ashanti regional capital of Kumasi for the commencement of a USD $20 million ultra-modern Kumasi International Convention Centre. Led by CAITEC Group of companies, the multipurpose project is being funded by Chinese investors and it is expected to be completed within a period of five years.
Dubbed as ‘The Kumasi International Conference Centre (KICC)’, the edifice is expected to bring synergy into the growing heritage tourism in the Ashanti region.
KICC would boost tourism, creative arts and economic growth in Kumasi and the components of the project include; large conferences, exhibitions, drama, music performances and other form of activities that would boost economic activities in Kumasi.
At a grounds breaking ceremony in Kumasi, the CEO of CAITEC Group of companies, Mr.Tang Hong expressed the readiness of his organisation to move to site, as the entire project would be completed within a period of five years.
The Akwamuhene of Manhyia Palace, who represented the Ashanti monarch at the short event, Nana Boakye Agyemang Bonsu indicated Manhyia’s commitment towards the project.
He stressed Asantehene’s preparedness to offer guidance and advise towards the successful execution of the project.
The project comes with exhibition halls, events centers, deluxe shops, office complex, luxury hotels, hi-tech gym, theme park, designer eatery, mini zoo, cosmetic clinic, automated car park and executive business suites.
It is a public-private partnership project with the Manhyia Palace.
