Nana Agyenim Boateng I, Chief of Amoaman
Nana Agyenim Boateng I, Chief of Amoaman, has noted that the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is committed to the general development of Asanteman, for which cause he has achieved a lot over the years.
The Chief paid glowing tributes to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his total commitment towards the development of region since assumption on the throne some decades ago, while giving audience in an interview to Captain Koda on OTECFM’S NYANSAPO morning show programme.
According to Nana Agyenim Boateng I, the King has virtually been the brain behind all the monumental projects that had taken place in Kumasi and the Ashanti Region for quite a long time.
The Chief of Amoaman, who is the Managing Director of the Cocoa Processing Company in Kumasi, disclosed that the King was directly involved in a number of projects such as the Kejetia and Central Market Redevelopment projects, the Jubilee Market at Krofrom, the recent sod-cutting of the Boankra Inland port by President Akufo-Addo, the approval of the €155 million Maternity Block project at the Komfo Anokye Teaching and hosts of others.
He maintained that in some instances the King had to personally provide funds and serve as a guarantor to some banks before monies could be made available for projects to start or continue, as well as release parcels of land worth millions of dollars following his commitment to ensure development.
Nana Agyenim Boateng, who is the representative of the Asantehene on the Kejetia-Central Market-Kumasi Re-development Projects, contended that the Ashanti King should be appreciated and commended, instead of courting unwarranted disparaging remarks from some sections of the people in the region.
Nana Agyenim Boateng I’s position was premised on the fact that the Asantehene could have invested all these funds involved in these projects into schools or any other personal commitments to commemorate his 20 years anniversary, but thought it prudent to ensure these projects were completed before time for the benefit of the people in the region, towards social economic development and growth.
The Amoamanhene bemoaned the ingratitude of the people for the King’s commitment and announced that a programme coded “Let the People Know” would be drawn to ensure that the populace was adequately informed of the enviable projects initiated by the Asantehene.
He stated that the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government, together with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, had initiated several projects in Kumasi worth billions of dollars, but added that because of Manhyia Palace’s inability to blow its horns, sections of the public are not informed about the realities on the ground.
Nana Agyenim Boateng I further admonished traders and hawkers at the Central Business District, who ply their trade on the pavements, to relocate to other satellite markets in Kumasi to enable the ongoing Central Market project to be completed on time, adding that once completed, it would be made available for their own use.
