The woes of Liberty Professionals continued yesterday when they hosted Aduana Stars at the Carl Reindolf Park in Dansoman on match day 12.
The game ended goalless despite the home team’s high hopes of restoring confidence, after suffering a humiliating 5-0 defeat at WAFA on Sunday.
Following their uninspiring campaign this season, which has accounted for the loss of vital points at home, their fans expected them to make amends, but this could not be.
Aduana could afford to smile all the way to Dormaa after securing a point away from home.
Both sides were just too physical throughout the first half of the game, a situation that did not produce clear scoring opportunities for either side.
The show of strength and physical nature of the match affected the beauty of the game, while the nature of the pitch also had an impact on the play.
The second half witnessed a different game altogether as Liberty Professionals played with much confidence and a renewed sense of urgency
At this point, the beauty of the game was activated which saw both sides demonstrate their desire for goals.
Liberty looked more purposeful upfront, but their series of attacks were characterised by poor shooting and lack of precision.
Aduana came close on the 75th minute mark with a kick that nearly fetched them the opener, but the goalkeeper of Liberty stood up to the challenge.
A last minute header into the Liberty net created some controversy, as Aduana’s appeal for a goal was ignored by the referee.
