The immediate-past Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi North Constituency in the Ahafo Region, Joseph Dahah, has presented 1,000 dual desks, 120 teachers’ tables and 165 chairs to the District Education Directorate for distribution to basic schools in the area.
The former MP, who served two terms, stated that this was part of his commitment to improve teaching, learning and effective supervision of basic education in the constituency.
According to him, on a tour of schools in the constituency, he noticed that some schools did not have adequate furniture, so he teamed up with the Middle Belt Development Authority (MBDA) to support the Directorate uplift the standard of education in the constituency.
“I’ll still do my best to ensure quality education, despite me losing the MP’s position in the last elections,” he assured.
The Head of Human Resource Management Department for the Ghana Education Service (GES), Paulina Azambawu, received the items on behalf of the schools and expressed her gratitude to the former MP for tackling one of the major concerns of the Directorate.
She explained that the said items, which would be distributed to needy schools, would go a long way to improve the standard of education in the District.
After assuring the MP of making good use of the items, she appealed for the construction of bungalows for officers at the Directorate for effective supervision.
According to her, it was extremely challenging and costly for the officers to get accommodation to undertake their mandatory activities.
