The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus in Parliament is beaming with smiles as it has obtained an equal share in the composition of key committees.
It would be recalled that the group, since the commencement of the Eighth Parliament, has been clamouring for a 50/50 membership in the various committees to be constituted.
In a report of the Committee of Selection on the composition of the Membership of the Business Committee and Appointment Committee presented in Parliament yesterday, membership of the NDC was at par with that of the members in government, thus the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In the Appointment Committee, which was composed of 26 members, the NPP had 13, while the NDC also had 13.
The composition of the Business Committee was also a 10/10 from each side.
The report of the Selection Committee indicated that considering the urgent need to facilitate business of the House and that of the government, the two committees would work in the interim to facilitate government business, while the House works to review its Standing Orders before the formation of the other various committees in the House.
Below are the lists of the members of the two committees.
