Over 150 residents, made up of the youth and aged, from Akyem Adjobue, a farming community in the Akyemansa District of the region have undergone free health screening for various diseases.
The exercise was to bring quality healthcare to the doorsteps of residents in the community, and to detect common health conditions for early intervention.
The free health screening was organised by Take Ghana Far (TGF) and staff of the Adjobue Community-Based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound.
The TGF is a group of intellectuals desiring to aid Ghana in a constructive way for the development of Ghanaians, seeking to uphold the good image of Ghana, and considering it necessary to help the economic and educational sector to expand.
Speaking to the Eastern File, the Executive Director of the group, Dr. Eugene Abrokwa, stated that he was satisfied with the turnout and promised to expand it to nearby communities in the district.
Dr. Eugene Abrokwa added that Take Ghana Far wishes to mobilise some groups – cocoa farmers, rice farmers, masons, and carpenters among others, to benefit.
Again, Take Ghana Far also undertakes developmental projects to the benefit of the less privileged across Ghana, and also empower Ghanaians, through education, to take up leadership roles.
He mentioned that it had always been his dream to help revamp the lost confidence in the youth of Ghana, hence the formation of TGF.
He explained that over-dependence on others had become one of the major factors that retards the growth of a person, so it would be very relevant for an individual to fight for their own interest, rather than depend on the government or any other agencies to fuel their life.
“In order to become self-dependent, it is likely to have a friendship that can educate us, and it is not any other friend than ‘Take Ghana Far’, because they identify talents and skills among the Ghanaian youth and put them into effective use for the benefit of the nation,” he added.
According to Dr. Abrokwa, his main objective for being a leader was to team up with groups and individuals to encourage young people to demand, advocate, lobby and campaign for social justice.
“In Ghana, we always depend on others, and that is why we are motivated to do something that will enable the youth to also take up their own responsibilities,” he said.
“Take Ghana Far, however, aims to help revamp the lost confidence in the youth, hence, we sometimes organise debates/quizzes among the youth within and outside the country with interesting questions that will stimulate their confidence, which also brings togetherness.”
