An Akyem Oda High Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Joan King has issued a bench warrant for the immediate arrest of Kwabena Ankomah, who is parading himself as the chief of Akyem Ntronang, with the stool name Nana Yamoah Ponkor Ababio II for contempt.
The court issued the bench warrant on Monday August 10, 2020 to the AkimOda Divisional Police command following the gross disrespect and non-compliance of a sentence slapped on the aforementioned and 11 other people.
The 11 are Nana Anyamah Kyerewaa II, Opanin Kofi Asoka, Simon Kwadwo Druye, Yaw Nimo, Driver Kotoka, Kwame Gyasi, Nana Akyea Mensah, Kwabena Kwaning, Kofi Tawiah, Kofi Amponsah and Kwabena Tuffour
The paper was told that, the self-styled chief of Akyem Ntronang, on November 26, 2018 allegedly hired and used the other 11 accomplices to attack the legally recognised chief of the area, Nana Asiedu Akora II.
The thugs, in the process, subjected the eminent chief who has been customarily enstooled as the chief of Akyem Ntronang in the Birim North district in the Akeym Kotuku Traditional Area in the Eastern region to cutlass wounds, torture and claimed to have destooled him.
Nana Asiedu Akora II was later admitted at the hospital for a number of days and was later informed that he had been overthrown and, therefore, was not recognised as the chief of Akyem Ntronang, after his over twenty six years ruling as the chief of the town.
The matter was reported to the Akyem Oda Police command where the suspects were arrested and arraigned before the honourable court.
The Court on Thursday, 19th March, 2020 confirmed Nana Asiedu Akora II as the eminent chief who has been customarily enstooled as the chief of Akyem Ntronang.
The court ruling, which was presided over by Her Ladyship Joan King, the Akyem Oda High Court judge, came out that Nana Asiedu Akora II is still a chief of Akeym Ntronang, a royal who qualifies to be a chief of Akyem Ntronang and was monitored by the rightful kingmakers of the family during his enstoolment and cannot be overthrown by these people.
The court, in its ruling, fined the accused persons, including the self-acclaimed chief of the area GH¢2,000 each and were given two weeks to make payment, as well as asked by the court to sign a bond of good behaviour for two years under monitoring.
All but Kwabena Ankomah have executed the bond in compliance with the court Orders.
In an effort to enforce the Court Orders and compel those who have not signed the bond, the court on the aforementioned date issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Nana Yamoah Ponkor Ababio II.
To this, the Oda Divisional Police Crime Office has declared the said self-styled chief of Ntronang wanted and has, therefore, called on the general public to provide pieces of information leading to his arrest.
