The whole of Africa stood still as stars from across the continent came together to celebrate Africa Day at a concert put together by MTV Base and YouTube.
On the lineup along with other global superstars were two of Ghana’s finest acts – rapper, M.anifest and dancehall king, Stonebwoy.
Introducing M.anifest, the organizers described him as one of the foremost rappers on the continent. He went on to deliver a beautiful performance that generated a lot of positive reactions on social media.
Stonebwoy also didn’t disappoint. Introduced as Africa’s king of reggae and dancehall, the BET Award winner the singer performed his hit “Strength and Hope” to the applause of the over 300,000 people who were tuned in.
Hosted by actor Idris Elba, with appearances from the Presidents of Rwanda and South Africa as well as lots of global stars including Ludacris, Spike Lee, Yvonne Orji, Omari Hardwick, Sean Paul, Fat Joe and more, the Africa Day Benefit Concert aimed to raise funds for children and families across Africa affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Organizations and individuals who want to contribute to the fundraising can do so through the World Food Programme and UNICEF campaign website uni.cf/Africa.
