Mavis Adwoa Brepor, a 27 year old farmer, who was allegedly plotting with her boyfriend, Patrick Asare, 50, to kill her husband, David Gator, 52, also a farmer, has been remanded into police custody for two weeks by the Asokwa Magistrate court in Kumasi.
They are to reappear on May 21, this month.
Reading the facts of the case in court, presided over by Korkor Achaw Owusu, the Prosecutor, Chief Superintendent Blagodzi, explained that the police got the wind of the intended crime after the person they contracted to kill Mavis’ husband, a detective in the police service, informed his bosses.
C/Supt Blagodzi further explained that on April 2, 2020, Patrick Asare, a cocoa farmer at Akyem Akropong in the Eastern region came to Sabu Zongo and unknowingly contracted the detective to commit crime, which Mavis was aware.
According to the Prosecutor, Mavis, who is a mother of four, lives with her husband, David Gator, who is also a cocoa farmer at Akyem Pamen, also in the Eastern Region.
He indicated that in March, this year, Patrick Asare, who was living in Accra went and settled at Pamen to farm.
As a result of his relocation from Accra to Pamen, Patrick was temporary allowed to live in the house of Mavis.
In the course of staying in the house, the suspect proposed love to Mavis and they started engaging in a sexual relationship.
Blagodzi further told the court that when the amorous relationship between Mavis and the suspect came to the attention of David Gator, he warned them to stop the practice.
But the reaction of Gator did not go down well with his wife and her newly found boyfriend, who then plotted to kill him.
Patrick then called another informant in the case in the Sefwi area of the Western North Region to look for a contract killer for him.
The informant then informed the police detective and subsequently introduced the latter to Patrick Asare, the suspect, as the contract killer.
Blagodzi indicated that Patrick Asare and the undercover detective engaged in a series of discussions about their murder mission.
Revealing about how the police got hold of Patrick and Mavis, C/Supt Kofi Blagodzi said on April 2, 2020 that Patrick Asare arrived in Kumasi from his base in the Eastern region and met the undercover officer.
The detective then asked that they visit a spiritualist at Zabu Zongo for protection before they embark on their murder mission, but was arrested after reaching the house of the supposed spiritualist.
Upon his arrest, Patrick mentioned Mavis Brempor as his accomplice and was also arrested.
