The Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Mr Asante Berko, has tendered in his resignation to President Akufo-Addo. A statement released by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin announcing the resignation did not state any reason for Mr Berko’s action.
It is, however, coming on the heels of a court suit filed in the United State court against Mr Asante Berko by the country’s Securities and Exchange Commission, alleging that the former TOR MD facilitated the payment of bribes to Ghanaian government officials in an energy deal between 2015 and 2016.
Meanwhile, the statement by Mr Eugene Arhin indicated that President Akufo-Addo has informed Board of Directors of TOR about the development, and has also wished the gentleman well in his future endeavours.
