The World Health Organisation (WHO) has cautioned nations against the lifting of restrictions on the Covid-19, saying it could be dangerous move.
According to WHO, much as it wants to see restrictions lifted, a quick decision on the issue could lead to a deadly resurgence.
In a media briefing addressed by Tedros Adhanom Ghebreuyesus, the Director General, which was published on its website, WHO indicated that the way down can be as dangerous as the way up if not managed properly.
Reacting to a prevailing notion that some countries are attempting to lift Covid-19 restrictions, Adhanom Ghebreuyesus said he was aware some countries are already planning the transition out of stay-at-home restrictions. According to Adhanom Ghebreuyesus, WHO is working with affected countries on strategies for gradually and safely easing restrictions.
Highlighting on Covid-19 situation in Africa, where he acknowledged that the virus was spreading to rural areas, he asserted : “We are now seeing clusters of cases and community spread in more than 16 countries.”
