Almost two thousand years ago, one thousand nine hundred and eighty-four years to be precise, He selected a handful of men and put them in charge of the Church He established. This Church has come to be known as the Catholic Church, which is made up of six rites and twenty-four particular churches, the Latin rites being the largest and better known worldwide as the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
Anti-Catholics, since time immemorial, have been attacking this Church with the vim and potency of the satanic attacks Jesus spoke about when He said in the Gospel of St Matthew 16: 18, “I tell you, you are Peter, and on this Rock I will build My Church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.”
Yes, but the gates of Hell have been trying to destroy this Church from within and from without. The Catholic Church was called demonic in almost every way of her practices and doctrines that even the Holy Bible she professes as canonical is condemned as containing some books that support the false worshipping of God.
The Church’s center of worship, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, is described as another form of demonic worship, with some anti-Catholics swearing that they see demons coming out from under the altar during the climax of the Mass, which is during the liturgy of the Holy Eucharist.
Some even researched into history to come out claiming that the apparel the Catholic bishops wear, and the shepherd’s staff they hold, were directly linked with demonic worship, which took place somewhere and some place in history.
In all this, the Church lost many numbers to other churches, especially, to the New Religious Groups (NRGs). Yet, as statistics have it, the Catholic Church is the fastest growing institute in the world, having a higher percentage growth rate than the average world population growth rate.
As these attacks were going on, some NRGs sects started ordaining their pastors as bishops and archbishops, the same titles they always frowned upon and called demonic. And then these new sects of prelates started adorning the same garments of Catholic bishops they claimed were of demonic origin.
Wonders, they say, shall never end, when we saw a full ordination of bishops ala Catholic traditional style by members of some of the NRGs, and to confuse us all the more, there was a full celebration of a replica of the Catholic Eucharistic celebrations. It was too much to bear, seeing one of their bishops holding a chalice in hand, which, most likely, contained non-alcoholic wine, standing in for the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. But, wait, were these not the same people who claimed that consuming Christ’s Body and Blood meant Catholics were crucifying Him daily? And that it was not necessary, but rather demonic, since Christ’s death on the Cross was once and for all, and cannot be repeated?
Sometime last year, a certain mega-evangelist, Benny Hinn, spoke highly of the Catholic Church, when he said the Catholic’s celebration of the Eucharist was the most powerful, Holy Spirit packed celebration, with such strong healing powers without compare. He had more than a generous response from his peers, who thought he was demonised. When that information hit town, there were some celebrations of “We told them…We knew it” within the Catholic Church.
This hardly died out, when a Ghanaian bishop of one of the NRGs, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, came out recently to vouch for the potency of anointing in the Catholic Church, and warned his peers to desist from attacking her, since they will rather call curses upon themselves. And Catholics, again, had course to rejoice.
But, this is where I beg to differ from all Catholics in such mood. What is new in what Bishop Heward-Mills and Benny Hinns said? It is not for Catholics to rejoice, but rather members of such NRGs who are now being directed, after all these centuries, to the WAY, TRUTH and LIFE.
Rather, Catholics, especially those who are slacking in their worshipping and the reading and studying of Sacred Scriptures, Sacred Traditions and Church Doctrines to make this a wake-up call and renew their commitment to the Lord, the Holy Catholic way. Some non-Catholics have seen something good in the Catholic Church, and are coming for it, and possibly deny you of such blessings and graces.
And to those who are very devout and dedicated in their fellowshipping with the Lord the Catholic way, they should go the extra mile and evangelise to the world and draw more souls to Christ through the Church.
It rather makes mockery of true Catholics to go spreading the video clips of Bishop Dag Heward-Mills and patting each other on the back. What this means is that such Catholics are trying to confirm their stark ignorance in the affairs of the form of worship in the Church they belong to.
Yesterday, Sunday June 4, 2017, was the 1,984th anniversary of the birth of the Holy Catholic Church. All Catholics must resolve to do is to obey Mother Mary’s only instructions to Mankind in the Sacred Scriptures, and to “Do Whatever He Tells Us” found in St. John 2:5, and leave the rejoicing to those who need it most, FOR THE GATES OF Hell shall never prevail against the Holy Catholic Church.
