From Musah Umar Farouq, Wa
The former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Wa, in the Upper West Region, Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha, has appealed to members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop the blame game, and respect the Kwesi Botchway committee tasked to investigate what caused the party’s unprecedented electoral defeat in the just-ended 2016 elections.
In an interview with The Chronicle, Putiaha said though it is usual in a democratic dispensation to hear all kinds of allegations after a ruling party loses power, it must be handled with caution.
To him, these developments do not mean the party is falling apart, adding that the NDC must reconcile and come back stronger in subsequent elections.
The former MCE urged NDC members to stop the blame game and finger pointing, saying it has the potential to discredit the committee’s work.
“The committee was set up to offer party members the opportunity to give reasons for the party’s defeat, but many say they are not allowed to speak during the committee’s sitting, resulting in the current civil war.”
He called on all party members who have issues or concerns to direct them to the committee to help the search for solutions to the challenges confronting the party.
