The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Birender Singh, says his government is ready to support Ghana’s agricultural sector in order to enhance its growth and development.
Mr. Birender Singh says India is ready to invest in areas of agro processing, agric mechanization as well as services and maintenance.
He hinted that funds are readily available towards supporting this effort, stressing that the onus lies on the Government of Ghana to declare its readiness to access these facilities.
His Excellency Birender Singh made the announcement when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, at his office on Friday
The visit was aimed at welcoming the new minister and to brief him on Indian Government’s plans towards agricultural development in the country.
He said the government of India will continue to work with Ghana in diverse ways in order to ensure socioeconomic development of the two countries
The Minister Designate for Food and Agriculture (MOFA) Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, on his part, commended the government of India for her continuous support to Ghana.
The Minister said the fruitful and cordial relationship between the two countries must be maintained in order to ensure mutual economic and social benefits.
Both parties had successful bilateral discussions on how to improve agriculture and agribusiness in Ghana in order to ensure the development of the sector.
The Minister indicated that Government of Ghana, under the leadership of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, was fully committed towards the development of the agriculture as a major sector for economic development and prosperity.
