From Issah Alhassan, Kumasi…
THE PRESIDENT-ELECT, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo yesterday, told the people of Asanteman to continue rallying behind him and his administration, starting January 7, as he noted the task ahead to deliver on the promises remain huge.
Speaking at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, to thank the Asantehene and the Asanteman Council for their support and prayers during the electioneering campaign, Nana Akufo Addo noted that with the campaign over, people have greater expectations of his government and would, therefore, need their prayers and support.
According to the President-elect, he remains confident that he can still count on the people of the region, stressing “the task ahead of us is a bigger one, but with the support of Asanteman, I know we shall succeed.”
He said his government will only succeed when the people of Asanteman continue to support him, adding “I clearly recognise the huge contribution of the people in making me the president of this country and we will work together again in making our lives better”.
Accompanied by the Vice President-elect of the Republic, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumiah, Acting party chairman, Freddy Blay, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Ashanti regional chair, among others, Nana Addo said he believes his victory was timely and ordained by God, to use his wisdom to help alleviate the suffering masses.
“I have come to serve the people and to make sure we live a dignified life. In my campaign, we saw the sufferings and the hardships and I’m still committed to helping make Ghana work again with your support,” Nana Addo said.
He reassured the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the people of Asanteman that he remains committed in keeping every promise he made during the electioneering campaign
.
With his assurance to serve the people, Nana Addo categorically stated that the NPP has the best brains to deliver on every promise they made to the people, noting that his government would succeed only when Asanteman gets solidly behind him.
He also promised to be father to all, stressing that he has not come to only serve the people of his party, but the good people of this country.
Meanwhile, the newly elected President made a triumphant entry into the Ashanti Regional capital amidst heavy reception from enthusiastic supporters of the party.
Party faithful, clad in the red, blue and white colours flooded the Manhyia Palace to welcome Nana Akufo Addo and his entourage.
