From Inusa Musah, Kpone
Asafoatse Nii Odeasempa IV of the Bediako Clan of the Kpone Stool has sworn his oath of allegiance to Nii Tetteh Otu II, Paramount Chief of the Kpone Traditional Area.
Known in private life as Lawrence Mansro Tettey Kwao, Asafoatse Nii Odeasempa IV succeeds Asafoatse Nii Odeasempa III, who died in April this year.
At a colourful grand traditional out-dooring ceremony at Kpone, Asafoatse Nii Odeasempa IV swore an oath of duty to the head of the Bediako Clan, Benjamin Tettey Nawu, after which the head led him to swear his oath of allegiance to Nii Tetteh Otu II.
Another significant moment at the gathering was the out-dooring of another Asafoatse from the Nii Nuertey Aklotiah Clan, Asafoatse Tettey Affua VII.
The Kpone Paramountcy had been without a substantive linguist for over two years, and so Nene Tetteh Adeso II, also from the Nii Nuertey Aklotiah Clan, was appointed for the position.
Both he and Asafoatse Affuah VII swore an oath of allegiance and duty to Nii Tetteh Otu II, Kpone Paramount Chief.
Addressing the large gathering, Nii Tetteh Otu II was thankful to the clans for nominating successors to the vacant stools in the council.
He said the two ‘Asafoatses’ would help facilitate development in the area, adding that the demise of their predecessors had slowed the development of Kpone.
Nii Otu II said the youthful exuberance in the new Asafoatses would tell in uniting the youth of Kpone for a more peaceful co-existence.

Touching on the December 7 elections, the Kpone Paramount Chief advised his people to desist from any acts that could affect the peace of the area.
“Don’t give any politician work by going to fight and eventually kill yourself for them. Go to the stations and quietly cast your vote for your choice of candidate and come back home to continue with your business.”
He advised his people to distance themselves from spots where people would mass up, to save them from being the wrong targets.
Concluding, Nii Tetteh Otu II said: “Don’t let it be mentioned that somebody from Kpone caused Ghana to burn during the elections.
“The reeling devastations of political unrest are immeasurable, and so no political activist or commentators or party should invite that on Ghanaians.”
Present at the grand ceremony included Nene Kwaku Ablabu II, Kpoi-ete Chief, and Nana Kwabena Ntow II, Kraboa Mankralo.
