From Sebastian R. Freiku, Kumasi
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has announced a planned visit to the Essikadomanhen, Nana Prof. Kobina Nketsia V.
The Ashanti King announced the decision when he gave audience to a delegation from the Essikadomanhen at the Manhyia Palace last Saturday.
The proposed visit is intended to be a reciprocal one to an earlier one by the Essikadomanhen in July this year.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on July 24, 2016, received Nana Prof Kobina Nketsia V, Essikadomanhen, in private talks behind closed doors at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Last Saturday, the delegation, led by Nana Nanabanyin Quessy Ninsian-Imbeah II, Ex-Nyimfahen of the Mfantseman Council in the Ashanti Region, delivered a special message to the Asantehene behind closed doors, during which a book titled “African Culture in Governance and Development” authored by Nana Prof. Nketsia, was presented to him.
The six-man delegation, on behalf of the Essikadomanhen, also expressed appreciation to the Asantehene for sending a delegation, led by the Chief of Sekyedumase, Nana Antwi Boasiako II, to a special programme, organised by the Essikadomanhen in Accra.
The Asantehene expressed his heartfelt and profound appreciation to the Essikadomanhen for igniting the bond of friendship that has existed between the Asante Kingdom and Essikado Traditional area over the years, and gave the assurance that he would soon visit Essikado in a reciprocal gesture, to strengthen the bond of friendship between the two chiefs and their people.
The delegation, comprising Mr. E. H. Cobbinah, Chief Director of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Joseph A. Apprey, Principal of the Kumasi Technical Institute, Awuradeba Eric Duku, CEO of ERDUK Group of Companies, Nana Ninsin-Imbeah II, Ex-Nyimfahene of the Mfantseman Council in Ashanti, and Rev. Mrs. Betty Hemanns Cobbinah, Chartered Accountant of the Ghana Statistical Service, has since left Kumasi.
