Fans saw the player in a photo shared by the GFA Communications team when the Black Stars arrived in Cape Coast to continue preparations for the game on Friday, September 3.
While it is refreshing to have Jeffery Schlupp back, it was also strange to see him in the team because he was not originally named in the squad.
However, his return will quell talks that the player does not want to play for the Black Stars anymore following his inability to get a regular place in the team.
Akonnor has had a torrid time preparing for the double-header qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa due to the instruction to the England-based contingent not to travel to South Africa for the second game due to covid-19 rules in the UK.
If they defy the order and travel to South Africa for the qualifiers, the players will have to quarantine for up to 10 days upon their return to the UK, which means they will miss some games for their clubs.
Akonnor will, therefore, have the services of Jordan Ayew, Schlupp, Daniel Amartey, and Baba Rahman for the Ethiopia game but will miss their services against South Africa.
Meanwhile, The Black Stars arrived in Cape Coast on Tuesday afternoon for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifier against Ethiopia.
On Monday, the team held light training in Accra but have since moved their preparation into full gear for the test.
In all, Thirty-two players made the trip to Cape Coast for the match.
Coach Charles Akonnor has made a few more additions to the squad following the inability of Tariq Fosu, Benson Annan, Kelvin Yeboah, Thomas Teye Partey, and Mohammed Kudus to turn up for the games.
