Dr. Clement Apaak says the former president is the only candidate who can win the presidential election for the NDC come 2024.
He was reacting to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) report which has predicted victory for the NDC in 2024.
The report says it expects the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to defeat the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December 7, 2024, general elections.
It is their view that the NPP government has had two terms in power under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo.
“After two terms of NPP government, we expect the NDC to win the 2024 presidential election and to gain a small majority in Parliament,” part of a report issued by the Unit read.
In the 25-paged document sighted the Economist Intelligence Unit said it was also expecting the NDC to introduce a new candidate although there are rumours that former President John Dramani Mahama would contest.
“The next parliamentary and presidential elections are due in 2024. Under the constitutionally mandated term limits, Mr. Akufo-Addo cannot run for a third term. Mr. Mahama is reportedly considering whether to run again, but we expect the NDC to seek to revitalize its prospects with a fresh candidate.”
Reacting to the report, Dr. Clement Apaak stated that victory for the NDC in 2024 would be assured only if they present Mr. Mahama as a candidate.
“The only way NDC can win 2024 is to present JM; the only way NPP can break the eight is if NDC doesn’t present JM! NPP knows this, NDC knows this, Ghanaians know this, Agenda 2024 knows this too!”
Dr. Apaak insisted that the 2020 presidential pills were fair and the institutions of state were used to facilitate the weighing process.
To him, Ghanaians have already felt disappointed in the government because they deceived voters and are doing the opposite of what they told Ghanaians.
He stressed the need for the NDC not to forgo the victory awaiting them in 2024 because Mr. Mahama will massively win the elections with a wide margin. Read Full Story
