The Ghana Premier League was suspended in March following a Ghana ban on all public gatherings, including sporting events, as part of the measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus crisis.
The league had reached the matchweek 15 stage before being halted.
There are ongoing discussions on whether the current football season will be truncated and which teams will represent Ghana in Africa next season.
The nation's football governing body (GFA) have been directed by CAF to make a decision before 5 May, 2020 on the future of the league.
During an interview with Accra-based Happy FM, the outspoken administrator expatiated that Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold SC will represent Ghana if the league is truncated per the CAF rules on competitions.
“If the league is cancelled then this is simple, Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold will represent Ghana in Africa," Manu told Happy FM.
“When Kotoko and Charles Kwabla Akunnor had a case, the Tier I competition was considered as the league by the ruling in CK AKunnor’s case and also to CAF. As it stands now Kotoko is the last season’s winner and according to the CAF rule the previous season’s winner can represent the country in the CAF competition. That is the same rule Kotoko used in participating in the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup”, he noted.
Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold represented Ghana in Africa last season in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively. Read Full Story
