The exercise which started from Wednesday, 11th December 2019 and will continue all the way to the 8th January 2020 saw zero card issuances in the entire Ashanti Region.
Many residents who queued early dawn to get the cards were disappointed there were no cards and in particular areas where residents were to be served by five workstations, only one was functioning. MyNewsGh.com reporters who visited mote than 27 centers across the region reported a slow process.
For example, the exercise could not come on at all at the Parkoso areas because of tbis glitch while some areas in Bekwai and Obuasi saw scuffles between residents and registration officials.
The National Identification Authority (NIA) had earlier claimed all was set for the commencement of the mass registration of the Ghana Card in the Ashanti Region for qualified Ghanaian citizens.
