Following the surprising removal of C.K Akunnor and the not-so-surprising axing of Kjetil Zachariassen, there had been a lot of speculation about who would take up the position.
Eventually, the name that had come up the most, Maxwell Konadu, turned out to be the right one as Kotoko named him their new (old) coach on a two-year deal.
Konadu returns to the side he played for and then coached for a year before taking up a position with the national team.
His appointment, though widely expected has not been met with overwhelming excitement from fans of the club.
A lot of people expressed delight at the appointment of ‘one of their own’ as the new manager in replies to the club’s official announcement on Twitter and are expecting great things from the side in the upcoming season.
Others were less optimistic about the prospects of Konadu lasting in his role given recent developments at the club.
Some suggested that the two-year contract handed to him was a sign of a lack of faith in his long-term prospects.

To compete in CAF competitions, @AsanteKotoko_SC needs an expatriate Manager.
You people should sack him after 6 months and see. What kind of football politicking is that. Welcome home though coach
