This year’s budget presented by finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta was tagged ‘Bye Bye Budget’ as Members of Parliament on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) suggested that the government has been untruthful to Ghanaians regarding the economy and has performed abysmally, hence, should be shown the exit come 2020.
Led by 'choirmaster' Sam George, the legislators held their placards to display how they perceived the 2019 budget and chanted their version of highlife artiste Adane Best’s popular song, ‘Maafio’.
While they showed disapproval, MPs of the governing party countered by singing what has become President Akufo-Addo’s favorite song – Oye – indicating that the performance of the Akufo-Addo led administration is worthy of commendation.
Among other things, Mr. Ofori-Atta said government has directly or indirectly put an amount of 12.2 billion cedis into the pockets of many Ghanaians since 2017 through its major initiatives and social interventions.
