The congress will elect a new president, vice-president, technical director, treasurer and an executive member.
Eleven persons have officially been cleared by the secretariat after submitting their nominations forms. The incumbent President, Joseph Adotey Mingle, is being contested by Raja Owusu Ansah-Atuahene, as he seeks for a second four-year term, while the vice-president position is being contested by Emmanuel Seth Yoofi Boham and Yakubu Abdul Razak.
There is strong contention between George-Slater Commodore and Reginald Dodoo for the technical director’s position, while Samuel Nii Aryeetey Mensah is unopposed for the treasurer’s office.
The executive membership has four people vying, with Ebenezer Acheampong, Stephen Akrong, John Kofi Taylor and Isaac Kofi Aikins all seeking to be part of the highest decision making body of the association.
The annual congress will also be used to review the association’s constitution and make room for amendments to help transform their objectives and to achieve their policies and programmes.
The Director General of the National Sports Authority, Prof. Peter Twumasi, will grace the occasion to swear in the new executive members. Read Full Story
