Lomachenko, who will be up to add the WBC belt when he fights Campbell, believes IBF titlist, Richard Commey, would triumph over Lopez when they slug it out by the close of year.
The Ukrainian pound for pound king was not impressed with Lopez’s performance against Japan’s Masayoshi Nakatani in an IBF final eliminator in Maryland last Friday in which the American fighter recorded a unanimous decision victory over his opponent.
Lomachenko was surprised Lopez could only win on decision against a “nobody” like Nakatani after travelling the entire 12 rounds with the Japanese.
In an interview with Talk Sport, Lomachenko who will fight the winner of the Commey-Lopez bout believes the Ghanaian stands tall to emerge victorious in that tie.
“If we talk about his future fight with Commey, I think Commey wins, but I don’t want [that]. I want Lopez. Of course, of course,” he said.
Commey will make his mandatory title defence against Lopez as he looks to continue his fine form under the tutelage of renowned American trainer, Andre Rozier, who has led the Ghanaian to four consecutive knockout victories over Alejandro Luna, Yardley Cruz, Isa Chaniev and Raymundo Beltran.
