Last Friday the Porcupine Warriors secured the services of the Karela United attacker on a three-year deal, but his eligibility for the upcoming continental campaign depends on how quickly Karela furnishes Kotoko with his release letter to complete his move.
According to Mr Ackah, despite the club presenting a 27-man squad to CAF for their continental campaign, Kotoko is still looking to add three more players, including Taylor, to complete the list of 30 players before CAF’s deadline.
“We have signed the player on a three-year contract. We are just waiting for his release letter from Karela United. Although we have submitted the names of 27 players to CAF, we still have the chance to add three more players. We are supposed to submit 30 players by the close of Monday evening, so he [Taylor] could be part of our campaign,” he added.
Taylor, who scored five goals for Karela as they reached the final of the Tier One Special Competition by the GFA Normalisation Committee, is expected to be a great addition to Kotoko after a remarkable season with the Nzema Anyinase-based club.
The 21-year-old attacker becomes the 10th player to be signed by Kotoko in recent weeks, joining the likes of Bright Enchill, George Abege, Richard Arthur, Kwame Baah, Ampem Dacosta, Kelvin Andoh, Justice Blay, Godfred Asiamah and Didi Arnold Alexis who have been recruited by the club as they prepare to make significant impact at the continental stage.
Mr Ackah further noted that Taylor’s signing was on the recommendation from their new coach, Kjetil Zachariassen, and that the management moved to ensure the coach had the best players available for their domestic and continental campaigns.
“Taylor’s signing was a recommendation from the coach. In fact, all the players we have signed were recommended by the coach before we did the purchase. The coach might have seen something special in him, ” Mr Ackah stated.
Meanwhile, Kotoko’s want away Burkinabe star, Songne Yacouba, has been linked with a move to Sudanese giants, Al Hilal, who are reportedly bent on signing the forward who has been linked also with South African giants, Orlando Pirates.
Last week, Kotoko CEO, George Amoako, told the Graphic Sports that the unsettled player was no longer in their future plans and that the club’s management would listen to potential suitors and cash in heavily on him with a price tag of $150,000 to $200,000 placed on him. Read Full Story
