According to a writ of summons from an Accra High Court dated May 30, which was sighted by the Graphic Sports, the plaintiff, aside from the GH¢1,000,000 damages being sought against the defendant for libelling and defaming him, is also seeking an order from the court restraining the defendant from posting any slanderous, scandalous and defamatory statement about him on social media.
In addition, the plaintiff is seeking an order to compel the defendant to retract the slanderous, scandalous and defamatory statements made against him,while demanding the award of legal costs as well.
In a statement of claim filed by his counsel, Geofferey Quist, the plaintiff averred that the defendant disparaged him on a sports fraternity platform on social media.
The writ also alleged that Mr Darko Amankrah attacked an earlier judgment secured by the plaintiff against athletics coach, Andrew Owusu, four years ago.
The plaintiff further alleged that Mr Darko Amankrah sustained the view – which was thrown out in court – that he had been involved in a visa racketeering scandal.
According to sources, Mr Darko Amankrah has since been served the writ and hearing of the case will begin this week at the Accra High Court. Read Full Story
