The Director of the Royal Kingdom Security Network Limited, a private security firm says, security has become indispensable for churches as the house of God has become the target for terrorists.
Speaking on Church Security at the Good Shepherd Methodist Society, Kaneshie North Circuit on Sunday, May 26, 2019, Dr Biney said, “you must be observant as a child of God”.
According to him, Christians should be observant enough to be swift in identifying ‘the wolves that mingle with the sheep’, who come just kill and destroy.
He said, no terrorist is labeled on the forehead, hence, only vigilance could help identify them as soon as possible.
Dr Biney charged church ushers especially to be the first port of call for the security of the congregation. This he said, is due to the fact that in case of investigation into any criminal incident in the church, “the prime suspects are the pastor and usher”.
The ushers, he said, aside identifying criminals in the church, must do their best possible to ensure that they search to find all suspicious objects if any before service – since silent and chemical weapons are also being used by terrorists.
Making reference to recent terrorist attacks on Christians in Burkina Faso, Dr Biney said such incidents are not far from Ghana, hence, the need for churches ‘to be on guard’.
According to him, churches in Ghana have taken security for granted for so long.
He indicated that he started cautioning churches to be security conscious in 2013, it is until recently that his words are being taken seriously, due to some incidents elsewhere.
Dr Kwesi Biney quoted Matthew 10:16, 22; and Acts 20:28-31, to support his argument on the need for church security.
