Other members who were elected to serve on the new executive were Messrs Mark Owiredu (Secretary), Emmanuel Efemo (Treasurer), Kwame Osei Prempeh (Organiser), Samuel Otoo (Deputy Organiser), Francis Johnson (Coaches’ Representative), Fiifi Aidoo (Athletes representative), Eddy Domi and Dan Aryee (members).
The elections, organised on May Day also saw the association organising a special squash competition to mark the May Day meant to recognise the operations of workers
The special competition saw Mr Evans Ayai of Tesano Squash Club defeating Mr Dodoo Dimpson, also of Tesano Club, 2-0 to claim the trophy at stake.
In his remarks, Mr Quarcoo expressed concern about the present state of squash, saying it had been dormant for some time now and needed to be revived.
He charged the newly elected executive members to have a united front to restore the sport to its former glory by liaising with corporate bodies to support squash more meaningfully with sponsorship.
“It is our responsibility as a new board to revive our current players and spread the sport to the basic and senior high schools, as well as the tertiary institutions, to propel the sport to regain its past glory.
“I acknowledge that all who have contributed their individual or collective quota in bringing squash to where it is now. We hope that all stakeholders and corporate organisations would support us to bring back the glories we used to have in Ghana,” he said.
