Kizito, who parted ways with the Phobians in 2007, is currently without a club and is back in Ghana to sort out what he claims are issues with his birth certificate. His presence in town may have raised speculations that he was seeking a return to the Phobians.
However, the 22-year-old forward told the Graphic Sports via telephone last Friday that his comments in the media was misinterpreted as seeking a return to Hearts, insisting he was looking beyond Ghana football.
“A reporter asked if I loved the club and I said yes, because Hearts have been my team since I was a small boy. He added: “The fact that I said I loved Hearts does not mean that I want to return to the club. I already have a contract in Sweden but I have issues with my birth certificate and that is why I am still here. I was supposed to join Thomas Abbey to his new club in Malaysia, but as I said earlier, there are problems with my birth certificate which I am working on.”
Kizito enjoyed a breakthrough career with Hearts during the 2016/17 season, netting 13 goals as the club finished third in the Ghana Premier League and reached the FA Cup final for the first time in a decade.
He was also an integral part of the Black Stars B squad that won the WAFU Cup of Nations tournament held in Ghana in 2017.
The forward failed to agree on a new deal with the Phobians after his contract ran out at the end of the 2016/2017 season. He later joined Al Ittihad on a three-year deal but terminated the contract with the Libyan side in October 2018.
Although Hearts made attempts to keep their star man, he rejected their offer and secured floating status from Player Status Committee of the Ghana Football Association, which made him a free agent to sign for any club of his choice. Read Full Story
