This is according to the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.
He said the CEO of Menzgold, a gold collectible firm successfully duped many of his clients because he was generally accepted by leadership in the country, a situation he said, compelled security agencies to turn blind eye to his nefarious activities let alone investigate his wealth.
“NAM1 used a good strategy to dupe people. I think our leaders must stop pampering people who come from nowhere to become rich overnight. How can this young man come from nowhere and then you allow him access to the Presidency and even Otumfuo all in the name of money?
“He was pampered too much. That is the mess we are seeing now. Not all that glitters is gold, ” he stated on Adom TV’s Morning Show “Badwam”.
His comment follows the announcement by the Ghana Police Service the most wanted man, Nana Appiah Mensah, has been in the custody in Dubai following his arrest on December 7, 2018.
Nana Appiah Mensah is wanted for defrauding by false pretense and alleged money laundering. It follows Menzgold failure to pay thousands of clients’ returns on their investments.
But Mr. Agyapong said Nana Appiah Mensah’s bank accounts should be frozen in order to help refund monies to aggrieved clients.
“They should block all his bank accounts and use the money to defray monies owe to the clients,” he stated.
