Frimpong, 26, believes the Porcupine Warriors must be clinical in the two-leg encounter on January 13 and January 20 to be able to eliminate the Cameroonian giants.
Kotoko will be hoping to qualify to the group phase of the continental competition, having beating Kenyan side Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 on aggregate to make it to this stage but must avoid any slip up against a Cotton Sport side that were booted out of the CAF Champions League after losing 3-4 on aggregate to Egyptian side Al Ismaily 4-3 in the final round of qualifiers.
In a chat with the Graphic Sports ahead of their first leg encounter away at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium on Sunday, the defender said his side were prepared to earn a favourable result away from home in order to finish it off the tie on home soil in Kumasi.
Describing the tie as a difficult one, he cautioned his side against being complacent since the Cameroonian club has proved to be one of the best in Africa over the years.
"We will be playing against an African giant and must play at our best in both legs to be able to qualify ahead of them. I believe in our team but we need to be clinical in both legs to eliminate a side like Coton Sport because they are a difficult team to beat," Frimpong noted.
"We must work hard to earn a favourable result in our opening game away from home so we can finish the tie off at home. I believe we have a solid team to achieve that but must have the right attitude to go through," he added.
