He was honoured for his immense contribution to the marketing profession and dedication to CIMG over the years.
The conferment was made during the institute’s 29th Presidential Ball Dinner event at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra on Saturday, December 8, 2018.
The Presidential Dinner Night, on the calendar of the CIMG, is the last event of the institute in a year and is also serves as a platform to network and build stronger ties among its members.
The Vice-Chancellor was one of the two personalities honoured with the coveted CIMG fellow status on the night- the highest rank in the marketing profession.
The other honouree, Dr James Asare-Adjei of Asadtek Group Limited, who is also the immediate past president of the Association of Ghana Industries thanked the institute for the honour bestowed on them.
19 other members were granted full membership status by the CIMG, while 38 additional members attained associate membership. Another Nine (9) graduated with Digital Marketing/AITE Programme certificate, and 12 others also recognized for a successful completion of the Diploma in Marketing course.
Prof. Amartey’s Professional Profiles
Professor Amartey, after a successful corporate-life as a marketing professional, joined UPSA in 2016 as a lecturer at the Department of Marketing and Head of the CIM Unit. He rose quickly through the ranks to become the head of the marketing department and later as Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Pro-vice chancellor before been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the university.
Professor Amartey has over 25 publications in reputable and highly-ranked journals including Emerald, Sage, ScienceDirect and Taylor and Francis. His publications in the journal, Computers in Human Behaviour, makes him one of the few Ghanaian marketing professors who has ever published in a three-star journal.
He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the SMC University of Switzerland, Master of Philosophy in Marketing, a Master of Business Administration (Marketing option) and Bachelor of Arts (Economics Major) all from the University of Ghana.
He has won a number of awards, locally and internationally including the prestigious ‘The Most Respected CEO’ in the education sector at the 2018 Ghana Industry CEO Awards, and the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence in 2016 at Anaheim, California. Read Full Story
